Retirees, tired of supporting ANY entity with our taxes being the source of their first installment for coming. Any entity should pay their own way much like a person, or small business does. Aside of that, “growth of Austin” has nothing but negative results for most or retired Austinites.

Tax funds should not be used to subsidize the investments of the very wealthy one tenth of 1% of our population.
This proposed giveaway should be investigated in microscopic detail becaus of the obvious risk of wealthy donor influence on the City Council decisions.

I pay my taxes with no rebates from City of Austin. So far I have not seen anyone pop up at the check out stand when I am making a purchase. Nor have I received City of Austin money to maintain/repair my residence. And my neighbors did not receive COA money to build theirs four years ago. We all make $45-$140K I am guessing.
In this project, the owners are very wealthy people who do not need subsidies from the City of Austin get the most benefit from this “idea.” In case you forgot how the moral tale goes: Robin Hood took from the rich and gave to the poor, not the other way around. Particularly took from the rich who owned lands and had taxed their serfs and communities for the crown, and kept the less well-heeled from making a living.
Analogy there somewhere?
I pay my way. Make them pay theirs. Don’t subsidize the rich from our tax money in negotiating the South Central Waterfront District.
We are going to be a world class city without any people who used to live here, can afford to live here, and without diversity (racial and economic) soon if you continue to hand out subsidies to the richest who, for the most part, don’t even live here.
If you give it, the will come - build. But the antithesis to that is: it is Austin, they will come - and build w/o subsides.

As a middle class homeowner in central Austin, it’s all we can do to hold onto our property with the outrageous spikes in our property taxes each year. If the goal is to drive out anyone with an income below the mid six figures, mission accomplished. I have no faith that the City Council and TCAD care enough about those of us who drive the economy to help us out. Guess they figure all that wealth will trickle down to the little people.

It's part of the bigger plan. The City takes our money, in effect an investment to help fund a major tax source. What do we get in return?....well, < nothing.

This is shameful I'm a sixty five year old now being forced out of my home by taxes and there's no affordable place left in Austin for me. Austin now only caters to the wealthy.

This is premium real estate, I'm sure they'll have no problem finding developers. I don't want my tax dollars going toward a luxury development I wouldn't even be able to afford a closet in! Enough is enough with the tax breaks going to those who do not need it, these developers can afford to build the infrastructure needed on their own dime, they stand to make a fortune on this project. I have no problem paying taxes when it's going to support local libraries, parks, affordable housing, emergency services, and all of the other public needs. I have a huge issue giving it to developers so they can pocket millions more in profit. Ridiculous.

How can council possibly support this in the middle of an affordably crisis and in a year which will likely be one of the biggest increases in property taxes. Council's continued support of unsustainable corporate welfare will not be regarded well at the next election.
