Petition to oppose the Planned Unit Development-Conditional Zoning District (PUD-CZ) at the intersection of Laura Duncan and N. Salem St. in Apex, NC

Enough already. Stop making Cary, Apex, and Morrisville overcrowded slums. Just because there is room to build is not reason to allow a building. Your job as Council members is to protect the quality of life of existing residents, not increase the tax base for the benefit of the administration.

A 3 - 4 story building needs adequate space which this lot does not provide. Nor does it fit in with surroundings > the "home-town" feel of Apex/Cary. Yet most importantly the safety of your citizens that will be at risk by adding 200+ apartments and all that comes with it such as disruption from construction, potential delay in response time from EMS/Fire & Police Dept, children safety attending school , traffic on Laura Duncan (which is already traveled heavily & a hazard as people use it as a cut thru now) to name a few.

The lot is much too small for that many apartments. First build proper roads and infrastructure.

There is too much congestion at this corner already! To add 200+ apartments it will be a nightmare!

There is not enough room to handle this scale of development. There has to be major improvements to the roads for this to occur.

What is the status of this?

There is far too much congestion with high density housing.

Too much construction in our area as it is. An apartment complex on Hwy 64 behind Costco recently completed. Many new ones just completed as well, one off of Morrisville Carpenter Road and another one being built off Hw55

It is not necessary to fill every empty space in Cary. The area proposed is already congested and this would further complicate traffic flow and create additional concerns of safety for pedestrians, as well as, the students and faculty of the year round school.

I am so sick of the growth without the infrastructure to allow it. Builders should be charged to widen roads to handle new developments.

The infrastructure can NOT support an additional estimated 200 apartments in this area. It will endanger children and adults who are walking to the nearby school.

It will increase traffic and overall congestion.

I STRONLY oppose the building of apartments, neighborhood, businesses, etc. by the approval of PUD-CZ at the intersection of N. Salem St. and Laura Duncan Rd. This will cause more stress on an already terrefic traffic flow problem. In opposition I feel that at the least Laura Ducan Rd. and N. Salem Street should be widened. I feel that this, in no way, should cause the PUD-CZ rezoning to be approved.

The locals love this spot when there are pumpkin patches and Christmas trees!! Please don’t take this away from us! Little things like this give apex that small town / special feel. Plus the traffic cannot support an apartment complex !!

I oppose of this proposal

It will affect traffic, noise and safety. This is not the ideal place for apartments

While I understand the need for more affordable housing in Wake County, the traffic in the vicinity of this intersection has risen exponentially over the past decade with all of the residential development along North Salem Street, Salem Church Road, and Laura Duncan and is quite challenging to navigate at key times of the day. Please consider alternative development of this space. I've always thought this space would be wonderful for a park or community garden.

Two buses were out of service today and it caused stand still congestion at that intersection for over an hour. Adding 200 units with less than 2 spaces per unit is guaranteed to cause unimaginable traffic, noise and safety issues.
