Oppose Mask Mandate in Greene County/Springfield Missouri

I am against the mask mandate for Greene County!

No to mandated masks.

A mask mandate is a clear and blatant violation of people's rights under the Constitution. Local governments do not have the right to tell citizens what to wear on their face, and it is an attack on religious and medical liberties as well.

I will spend my money in another town who does not require them.

The closing of schools, businesses, and outdoor gatherings wasn’t necessary. Neither is a mask.

This is stupid, unconstitutional and a violation of the people’s rights and according to the facts absolutely unnecessary!

I can not and will not wear a mask I can not breathe with it on and get very sick. My life is important also. I think we have the right to choose and you should not take that from us.

Mandating masks is a violation of my rights as an American. This is arbitrary and there are no facts to back up the need for masks. Do not violate our rights as citizens of the United States of America.

Masks are unhealthy! We should be breathing fresh air not CO2!

Masks do not prevent virus spread. Even mask manufacturers state that on the side of the boxes masks come in. Stop pushing a false narrative that masks make people safe. They do not. Refuse to add any false narrative and do not make masks mandatory due to they do not help and actually make it hard for people to breathe.

Let's break down a few key points. One, in the surgery setting we wear masks for a couple reasons, none of which have much of anything to do with preventing the spread of viruses. The first is to prevent bacteria particles from our own nose and mouth from entering into the patient's surgical cavity. This is not because anyone is sick. This is because we all carry pathogenic material in our airways, that normally are a non-issue, but when a patient is in a compromised state from being given general anesthesia and having their body sliced open, they become more susceptible to these opportunistic microbes we all carry. The second purpose of the mask in surgery is to prevent exposure of the provider to the patient's fluids and tissue. Interesting to note, in many countries the circulating nurse doesn't wear a mask, only those hovering over the surgical site don PPE. Secondly, not all masks are created equal and most people have no idea which masks are for which circumstances, or that most masks provide little if any protection against viruses. The right mask worn incorrectly increases risk. The masks typically worn in the operating room are simply medical grade surgical masks, like the one I'm wearing here, and are not recommended for use when the presence of small particulate or aerosolized pathogens are in play. They're great for keeping the teams spit out of the patients incision while they communicate during surgery and prevent chunks of tissue and blood spatter from being on the inadvertent lunch menu, but aside from that they're really just little humid breath collectors. Instances when one would don an N95 respirator would be things like a case with a TB positive patient. And we are fit tested for those and given a specific mask type to use in such cases. Personal liberty still exists in this country! The decision whether to wear a mask or not is one people have the right to decide for themselves. It is not a city council’s place to decide “law”, and then fine people for not following their new made up “law”. You are not representing the people who put you in your position, and if you continue with your own self interest we will find someone who better represents us to replace you.

Please, stop the madness of infringing on our rights! It will only continue and get worse.
