As a former student of Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, I was extremely disappointed to hear about the loss of our playground. Kindergarten through eighth grade, the playground served not only as a fantastic resource for Lincoln students before, during, and after school, but as a more intimate setting to hangout all of the time. It is some of my earliest Lincoln memories, where I learned to ride my bike, a place I learned various social and athletic skills and just a wonderful neighborhood place for children to grow up with. I am heartbroken to see my Lincoln Playground go.

Fiscally irresponsible solution to a problem solved by administrative action rather than more debt for a city in a precarious financial state. If other LP schools we're at 100% capacity this might be a solution, but they aren't...

Annex ove Lincoln school is the wrong solution, derived from an irresponsible and political process that does not truly reflect/serve the needs of the community or the city of Chicago.

The Lincoln Playground serves more than just being a place for recess. It provides a place for children to play before school, and after school, waiting for their parents to pick them up. If children are waiting around the building for their parents, it's a safety risk. Also, traffic around school would be even WORSE due to the fact that students won't have a place to "hang out" to wait for their parents. Instead of expanding onto to the playground, what about the vacant Children's Hopsital building across the street? There is way too much money put into this project while CPS schools are shutting down across Chicago due to the fact of not having enough money. So why does Lincoln deserve more money than the other schools? Every CPS deserves the same privileges as the rest. Make the border for the Lincoln School district smaller and kick the kids out that don't live in the neighborhood and aren't in IG! I love Lincoln school but there are so many BETTER solutions to this overcrowding than building an expansion onto the ONLY playground we have.

Lincoln is over crowded by 100 children. Rahm wants to spend $200,000 per student to alleviate the propblem? You wonder why our city and state is broke? Stop spending... there are 500 open seats within a 1/2 mile. Do the people who support this suggest we spend this much at every school that is overcrowded ?
