Please help protect our property rights, and stop or amend this legislation. As a home owner, and REALTOR®, we have pledged to protect property use and this appears to not do that.

Vacation rentals are the heart of tourism for Lake of the Ozarks and the Branson area. I would think that tourism and promoting it would be very important for the economy in Missouri. This is a ridiculous proposal .

My wife & I purchased our lake home 4 years ago with the plan that it would be our eventual retirement home. With 1 daughter in college and another only 2 years away at the time we would not have been able to afford the home without renting it out 4-6 weeks a year which we have been fortunate enough to have been doing. If this law passes and the taxes on the home go up 60+% along with the financial burden of possibly making the home compliant with whatever is deemed necessary (which we wouldn’t be able to afford) we would have to sell the home. Add all the other families that would be is similar positions that would also be putting their homes on the market and home values would drop (good old supply & demand). By making it cost prohibitive to rent a vacation home the pool of buyers considering LOTO would shrink (there are many other lakes in other states) which would again drive the market lower. I am also curious where the infrastructure would come from if suddenly Morgan or Camden county had to go out and inspect the 1200 vacation homes yearly to verify they were in compliance and where that additional money would come from as property values dropped and homes became vacant. This seems extremely short sighted by the powers that be to put such a valuable industry at risk for whatever short term gain they might realize.

I support this petition to stop Missouri pending legislation preventing homeowners from renting out their lake residence.

This is going to ruin the Missouri economy if it passes. the economy in Missouri will crash and so will the housing market causing bankruptcies everywhere.

My wife and I own rental homes and do not want additional taxes or regulations placed on our homes through new legislation.

We live in Nebraska and love Lake of the Ozarks, which is proven by the 9 hour drive we make every other weekend. We have traveled there for years. We purchased our home to entertain friends and family so they could enjoy the lake area as well. However the only way we could afford to purchase the property was to rent it out on the weeks we are not there. There is a short season so this rental only partially helps with our expenses but it is the make or break factor allowing us to own the property. This new legislation will jeopardize our ability to own and maintain our Lake Home! Please reject this legislation. Thank you.
