Oppose Ebenhaezer Boat move to Bathurst Basin

This industrial type barge is too big and ugly to be moored in Bathurst Basin. I appreciate that the Council wishes to develop the sheds on Welsh Back , but I am disappointed that they would do this by ruining the appearance of the newly regenerated Bathurst Basin . No regard has been shown to local opinion, despite Marvin Reece's assurance to us personally that he believed a satisfactory conclusion would be reached.

I believe this boat is far too big to be moored in Bathurst Basin. After the Basin has been enhanced by the renovation of the General hospital and the introduction of high quality restaurants and facilities, this industrial sized barge should be moored beside similar craft elsewhere.

Good Evening, I feel that the amount if disturbance that moving the boat will cause is wholly unnecessary. Especially when considering how other businesses function perfectly well with boats in situ. Not to mention the disturbance it will cause to all in Bathurst basin and the many more viable alternatives! I think more thought is needed before a decision is made. I would just like to note that I am not a boat owner but feel to relocate someone for not reason in this current climate is not acceptable. I do not feel that having the boat in it's current location would affect profitability of the business at all. Furthermore, the disruption to the wildlife is wholly unacceptable when considering all of the climate change problems we are facing. Many thanks Kat

I vehemently object to the Ebenhaezer being relocated to Bathurst Basin. Her presence in the Basin would make movement of the Cabot Cruising Club Members boats moored on the Club pontoon virtually impossible! The Ebenhaezer could surely be relocated to a more suitable mooring? Where her presence would not cause a navigational obstruction? Further along the harbour where other large barges are moored, beyond the Buttery, adjacent to The Point, or outside of the Lloyds Building for example. I am aware that the Owner of the Ebenhaezer has no wish to be relocated, and has unfortunately suffered huge anxiety & felt ‘Bullied, by The Powers that are thoughtlessly riding roughshod, affecting mooring holders and residents and business Owers, essentially Casa Mia without due respect or practicability. I live at 1 Byzantine Court, on Bathurst Parade, I also have my narrow boat moored on the Club pontoon. I can not think of anything more ridiculous than The Ebenhaezer, ‘Gert Lump’ coming into the Basin. Please think again.

Hello, I’m curious about the possible solution that Martin Rees proposed? I’ve written to the major myself but received no such reassurance.

I still have the letter from the Mayor, Marvin Rees dated 28th Feb 2018 confirming the possible solution to avoid the relocation of the barge to Bathurst Basin. Yes he did arrive at a solution. The barge was not moved to the basin. Why should the developer want the barge moved for him to build a restaurant and the Council want to move the barge to Bathurst Basin adjacent to an existing excellent Michelin 2 star restaurant? P;ease could our Central Area Councillors P. Smith and K. Dud ensure that the Ebenhaezer barge will not be relocated now, or in the future to Bathurst Basin. The barge is too big and it would be like putting a whale into a gold fish bowl.

I vehemently oppose the relocation of this large boat. Its size is inappropriate for the size of the basin and would impact visually in front of the prestigious, new development of the General Hospital and Michelin starred restaurants.

I concur with my fellow residents of Merchants Landing that the proposed relocation of this large vessel will significantly detract from Bathurst Basin's attractiveness

Totally inappropriate to moor this large vessel in Bathurst Basin. Who is trying to force this through against the wishes of all concerned?

The size of the vessel makes it inappropriate for Bathurst Basin. Its presence would interfere with the leisure activities that take place and spoil the look of the General which had been so attractively and thoughtfully renovated.

Bathurst Basin has always been most appropriate for leisure craft. The mooring of such a large vessel in Lower Guinea Street will inevitably affect other boat owners in the basin and be out-of-place against a most attractive quayside with its internationally renowned restaurants.

I object to the re-location of the Ebenhaezer to Bathurst Basin on the grounds that this is a permanent re-location causing long-term detriment to the above groups of people, including the owner-occupier of the vessel who also does not want to be moved from her current residential mooring. Importantly, and being overlooked by Bristol City Council (BCC), is that Bathurst Basin does not have permission for residential moorings.

I don't think that this boat is in keeping with the basin and will look completely out of place.

This boat will dominate the area. It will jepordise the businesses in the immediate vicinity. If these businesses were to leave, it would undo a lot of good development work that has been done in the area. I strongly object.

I oppose the use of any mornings on Bathhouse basin for permanent or semi-permanent residential purposes.

Real concern at the lack of communication between the Council and concerned residents over several years.
