The port authority have a sign on the harbour wall saying no moorings here. This is very sensible since the area is used for leisure of many people including school children canoeists enjoying a unique safe space without obstruction and pedestrians enjoying unobscured views of the water. Residents bought knowing these rules. It is not right that an authority should set rules for others and then choose when to break them for the benefit of a few.

The Bathurst Basin is a totally inappropriate location for Ebenhaezer and will not offer any privacy to it's owner or residents of Bathurst. Siting the ship here will restrict free navigation of existing legitimately moored and licenced craft in the basin.

Also, all the historical boats have been on Welsh back for years (my parents lived on Helouise Bay before I was born) and are a famous sight to see to tourists. I don't think any of the large residential boats on Welsh back should be moved. They have a history together and should be kept together.

I am a frequent walker around the Bristol docks area and love the fact that people live on their boats of all shapes and sizes. I know the Welsh Back and the Bathurst Basin very well and I think this boat would be too large and also support the rights of the owners to remain where they are.

Ebenhaezer and some of the other large barges have been moored in Welsh Back since the 90's and suit the area they are in, so why is BCC breaking their own docks policy and agreement with the owner and moving it to Bathurst Basin? The owner has no wish to move and the families treatment has been astonishing. They must be one of longest running resident of BCC and yet they have been treated with disdain. Questions need to asked of BCC about the agreement they have done with the developer that displaces long standing residents into a hostile area and the harbour side Arena. Action should be taken against the officers concerned.

To have a residential boat moored in a location that has recently been transformed into a significant public space with restaurants and cafes would not be a sensible option for the occupants. Moving the Ebenezer directly adjacent to Lower Guinea Street means the boat would be directly overlooked by people sitting out enjoying the evening sun or from patrons of the restaurants, giving the occupants of the boat no privacy. The design, size and condition of the boat cannot be appropriate in this historic location and to locate it adjacent to Lower Guinea Street would be contrary to the Council's own mooring policy. There has to be a more appropriate mooring site for the boat within the Floating Harbour.

Surely the boat-owner's contract with the the council for a permanent mooring cannot be ripped up for the benefit of a Developer, especially when the proposed mooring is unsuitable and inappropriate?!

The proposed moving of the houseboat would destroy the ambience of Bathurst Basin. The only reason for moving it is to allow totally inappropriate redevelopment of a site that is ideal for presenting both sides of Bristol's darker and enlightened history.
