Oppose density zoning of Mercedes/ Ashton Woods Project - Sandy Springs, GA

Concrete adds to ill-health - mental unstablility, aggression and road rage, to name just a few reasons why the quality of life needs protecting..DO NOT BUILD - keep the trees, keep sanity.

I am against having any number of apartments and would like to see lower density achieved by way of more single family detached homes and less townhomes.

Sandy Springs became a city to create a better environment for residents. Adding commercial projects is great in commercial areas if it dos not cause more traffic and keeps the trees and beauty in place. This project will choke an already nice area with traffic and cut down green space. Increased taxation will help the city, but have a negative effect on those of us that live near the proposed site of the development.

Don't allow this overdevelopmental damage to our community for the benefit of corporate profit

I am totally opposed to the overdevelopment of the City of Sandy Springs as the recent plans describe.

I am opposed to the rampant overdevelopment that will compromise our community, further strangle traffic, and burden our schools.

I'm shocked at the development in Sandy Springs particularly the leveling of trees over huge plots of land.

A friendly reminder why Sandy Springs came into existence -- the City vision from the 2007 Comprehensive Plan... "Sandy Springs will continue to be characterized by residential neighborhoods of predominantly single-family, detached homes at low densities. The City will strive to ensure that existing single-family neighborhoods will continue to be characterized by large lots, substantial tree cover and low vehicular traffic."

On the North and South parcels, the City of Sandy Springs should insist on a decoupling of the two parcels as well as a decoupling of the Mercedes HQ sale/relocation from the build-out of the rest of the South parcel for rezoning request purposes. On the Glenn West Parcel, the city should insist on a decoupling of the ball fields sale to the school from the subdivision build-out for rezoning request purposes.

Approving higher density in the Sandy Springs market without first addressing the required infrastructure is poor governing. I support development and look forward to a increased walkable sandy springs, but not done haphazardly.

Has a traffic study been done? Has the Planning Committee for Sandy Springs said anything? Do the people have a say?

I oppose the Astonwoods/Mercedes proposed plan. The surrounding area is already congested with cars and traffic, not to mention there are hardly any green areas left.

Sandy Springs zoning explosion certainly has the appearance of impropriety and self-serving bias on the part of our elected officials. I wonder what is going on behind the scenes or under the table. How much irreversible damage will be done before they can be replaced?

The mayor and the city council members clearly not keep the Sandy Springs' residence interest in mind with the Ashton Woods Project. Our elected officers are willing to "grow" the city at any cost!

I am not a resident in the area of the proposed project but I am a resident and board member of a condo complex in Cobb County built by the same company. Our owners have spent and are continuing to spend thousands and thousands of dollars fixing issues left behind from inferior construction and unfulfilled promises. There are some issues that will never be fixed - such as the lack of sound-proofing that was assured during the sales pitch.
