For those Family Child Care Providers living in California, as well as parents with children in FCC, it's imperative that we defeat Assembly Bill 2137. Please call Assemblyman Steven Bradford's Sacramento office 916-319-2051 ASAP and urge him to vote NO on AB 2137. This bill, if passed, it is the start of providers no longer being able to provide St. Lic. child care in their home. This Bill will reduce the amout of children cared for. Preschool centers charge more than family child care facilities because of overhead, hours and more stringent sick policies. By closing large family homes down (such as myself) the options include more money and rigid rules for the parent (s). As you know some of the job options that these "program parents" are getting leave little room for job flexibility. Extended job hours and consistency are what keeps their jobs, family child care can make that happen. Currently the cities have the ability to restrict when traffic, noise and concentration are an issue. We propose they actually use those powers and work hand in hand with Licensing to keep it under control.

The centers are way to expensive and dont have the same hours. we need to keep home daycares open for the sake of the parents.

AB2137 is bad news for cali families. local cities already handle the traffic stuff so why add more state rules on top of it?

My provider is like family to us. she has been watching my kids for 5 years and this bill would just break that bond. VOTE NO.

Leave these providers alone. they are doing a great job and helping out working families who cant afford those expensive centers.

This is ridiculous. Daycare in a home is the only option that works for my schedule and if they pass this I dont know what I will do.
