To the Little Rock Zoo Board in Little Rock Arkansas: There are no safe levels of exposure to second hand smoke. There’s no such thing as any form of safe tobacco. We are in support of a SMOKE FREE/TOBACCO FREE ZOO, and believe that the Zoo Board should strongly reconsider having designated “smoking” areas near, close to, or anywhere in the park where youth and adults walk, pass by, and or are near. Likewise, we believe the same for the animals. Animals should not be near, reside, and or breathe smoke that lingers and flows in the air from other parts of the zoo. Sincerely, The Undersigned

Update: on November 8, 2010 the Zoo Governors banned smoking, but there are still two exceptions and that hopefully, in the future, we can convince the Zoo Governors that smoking should NEVER be allowed in any fashion at the zoo.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum we have built together lately. This progress belongs entirely to the people who cared enough to start this conversation and keep it going.

THIS. Finally someone said it. It is already 2014 and we still have smoking areas at the zoo? Need to grow up and make the whole place tobacco free.

I hate taking my nephew to the zoo and having to steer him away from the designated areas. It ruins the whole day.

The zoo is for families and kids. Why should we have to walk through clouds of smoke just to see the exhibits? It makes no sense to allow it anywhere on the grounds.

Keep it 100% smoke free. My kids dont need to be breathing that in while looking at animals.
