The purpose of this petition is to request that the current smoke-free ordinance for the city of Killeen, Texas be changed to prohibit smoking in public indoor areas.

To date, smoking is allowed in bars, bingo halls, pool halls and bowling alleys in the city of Killeen

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 41,000 people die each year due to second-hand smoke (SHS) exposure. SHS is know to cause lung cancer, stroke and heart disease in adults. There is no safe level of SHS exposure.

I believe that employees and customers in the city of Killeen deserve to breathe clean air while working at/visiting these public establishments.

Thank you for your time and support!

The city of Killeen must protect it's residents from a known killer carcinogen if they care about their citizens and make the city a Smoke Free one as soon as possible !!!

I have been wishing Killeen would pass this for years, I used to work locally at place that allowed smoking, I had to leave after 3 months in fear for my health. I love to go out to dance (country), I barely ever do in Killeen, I'm driving all the way to the Pflugerville and Cedar Park area and it gets tiring. I will move eventually due to the smoking allowed here. We all know it can kill, it's unfair to those of us who actually care about our bodys well being. Most smokers will agree they hate way they smell after visiting a place that allows smoking. This shouldn't even be an issue, our culture is so advanced in so many other ways, why have we not completely figured this one out in certain places. Killeen is behind the times. Please make this a new rule! It also may discourage smokers from continuing their unhealthy habit and I don't want my children exposed to it either. Thank you!
