This is a petition for approval of the adoption of Carina Clark by Aaron Whiting. Aaron has been filling the role of Carina's daddy since July 2008. Carina loves Aaron and has called him "Daddy" for some time now. Aaron loves this little girl just like she was biologically his. You don't have to be biologically related to someone for them to be your family. Aaron is more of a father to Carina than her biological father is. He's been there when she's fallen down and scraped her knee, when she can't sleep at night or when she wants something to drink. Her biological father hasn't really been around at all. Even though Carina isn't his daughter by DNA, she is his daughter in love. That is all that matters. Therefore, we believe that the adoption of Carina by Aaron should absolutely be approved, as it would complete the legal aspect of the three of them being a family. We also believe that it is absolutely in the best interest of everyone involved.

I was reading through the notes people left and it just makes me realize again that family is really about who shows up for you every single day regardless of blood. Aaron is already doing the work of a father and honestly the paperwork feels like such a small thing compared to the years of love he has put into raising Carina but we really want to make it official for her sake.
