Hi my name is Thomas. I was a child in care for 8 years. Together with my mom, I am fighting to create stricter policies around sibling connections and keep siblings together. It is best practice to keep siblings together and it has been proven to create the best long term results for kids. I am fighting to be considered a close blood relative even though I am adopted. My adoption doesn’t change my DNA or the importance of my relationships with my siblings. Please consider joining my fight to change ministry and local CAS policies. Please sign my petition.

I spent the entire morning reading through the stories you all are leaving here and it is honestly so overwhelming to see how many people have dealt with these exact same forced separations. People keep messaging me privately about their own experiences in care and it just proves that the system needs a total overhaul because blood bonds are not just paperwork.

I checked the feed this morning and I am actually stunned because I never imagined this many people would connect with my own story about my siblings. It feels like such a long time since I was in care feeling like I had no choice in who I lived with and seeing all these names now makes me feel like maybe things really can shift for the next kids coming up.

Please work harder to keep siblings together. I just found mine after 40 years of searching. Connecting with the missing links have healed the holes in my heart.

Children should know their birth relations for so many reasons. Unless there is a safety reason siblings should be kept together.

Thomas and his family have my full support on this issue. Biological sibling relationships must be taken into consideration throughout the system and the adoption process. I’m surprised to learn that this is not already the practice. Please listen to his very important voice in this issue.

Siblings belong together wherever we can maintain that bond. This young man is an inspiration, fighting for what he knows is right. Let's make positive change and lower the impact of generational trauma.

I have 4 adopted children who are full bio siblings and have 4 full bio siblings in 2 other adoptive homes. Their connection to each other is innate and meant to be nurtured and supported.

Relatives should be considered relatives, and siblings should be together, this is the basics of our lives.

Heartbreaking to separate siblings. Keeping them together should be a top priority.
