Why can’t Kingston, for once, be pro-active.

Social distancing for non contact hockey is very possible. Hockey is a major element of regular fitness for many adults and does wonders for physical and mental health. I would even be ok with having to get dressed at home put sk8s on at the bench. Let’s do this and open rinks

Rink sports are likely amongst the safest with all the protection equipment already used. Let them play.

Kingston kids are travelling to Ottawa and Toronto to go to arenas to practice with 10 players. That’s just crazy!

Hockey is a critical part of winter health in Canada and if gyms can be open, arenas can too.

As long as the need for keeping the Invista Centre as an emergency overflow for the regions Covid cases is necessary, then by all means it should stay as such. But with every day that passes, there doesn’t seem to be that need so let’s get back to skating. Or maybe get back to skating with the understanding that the skating stops if there is the need for overflow space?

Please Open the rinks, social distancing can be maintained better here than in a mall.

Have you forgotten the skaters? They need their ice time just like the gym people need theirs. Registration for the fall will be coming up soon and to keep the skaters in shape they need time NOW. The protocols will be in place and keep them safe. They sure would be safer than the restaurants and bars.

Open Kingston arenas if you want to keep the city safer! Many many individuals are travelling back and forth daily to TO and Ottawa for ice time. It’s working well in Ottawa, their numbers remain low and the kids are active, happy and safe! @cityofkingston, our city has many elite level athletes, and beyond, be proud and support them!

We just skated at the Sensplex in Ottawa. It was a completely safe experience with skaters adequately spaced in the dressing rooms, a mask protocol entering and exiting, and spectators spaced out as well. There was a check in with a questionnaire, and all dressing rooms seats pre-assigned. The skaters had a great time and were not at any time exposed to any undue risk. There is no reason the Invista center could not function similarly, and it is a shame the kids have to travel to other towns and cities to skate. Arguably the travel to get ice time to different locales during the summer is not as advantageous then Kingstonians skating on their own ice. We want to build strong and heathy and happy kids. Lets give them a chance to do this at home. Thank you.

A lot of money is being spent in other local towns, cities that have rinks open. You may want the Kingston economy to start collecting...

Forget the financial considerations and let them do what Canadian kids like to do. Skate.

We are being told that Kingston is safer than other places. Our kids have been cooped up long enough. Open up the Centre and let them skate.

Families are waking up at 3 in the morning to get to their ice time in other cities on time. This is not fair to us considering we have many rinks in kingston that can follow the proper protocol and take stress off of people’s hands who have to wake up at 3 in the morning. Don’t open the dressing rooms make people skate on the selkirk pad make them put their skates on outside the door then let them enter through the back doors of the ice pad right beside zamboni door then it’s a short walk onto ice and nothing is being touched. I would do this to be able to skate again.
