The road NEVER belonged to the Air Force. The government has no legitimate claim to the road, and as such should remove their sign and open the road to the public, as it is the public's road.

My ancestors were the first settlers of this town. The land was given to the Air Force I believe by Jack Norris. He however DID NOT own the road and never conveyed it to them. The road has ALWAYS been owned and maintained by the town, first Plantation #33, then Great Pond Plantation, now the town of Great Pond. I am going to send letters to our senators, legislators, governor and whoever else I can think of. There is power in numbers, and we need to band together and let them know we will not stand idly by and let them take access to this beautiful pond away from us!!!!!

I will call Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine commander David Hunt. I do not think rhat they can legally do this. People cannot lget to their homes or access a public lake or launch rheir boats to go fishing or swimming. The u s Navy is not going to do this to us!. Just because they have a recreation facility on this lake they cannot take and shut down the road to the public!

The Great Pond road has been maintained and used by the citizens and visitors to Great Pond for 50+ years. The Navy is way out of line on this.

It’s always belonged to the town not the air force or any other military! I as a child grew up their and loved going to the pond swimming and to the lower part of collar brook fishing! We love that pond and it belongs to us the resident of Great Pond! Give it back It’s not yours it’s Ours!

It is pretty obvious no one has bothered to ask the folks at Great Pond what is happening. No one is closing or restricting access to anything. It is just a sign denoting federal property. A "cover your ass" of sorts. If anything happens down there, it is dealt with federally.

This is a public road not dow pines road. The landing, the lake and places to park your cars are public access. The us navy and dow pines needs to move that sign to their own compound not leave it 3/10ths of a mile from the lake. You guys are real jerks. This is America. You just are creating chaos for nothing!
