Wow!!!! I haven't been there in years but it has always been a public road. Used to take class trips there, took my niece and kids I baby sit to that beach! Its always been a beach for the public even when they closed down the rec center when I was younger you still had access to the beach! This is ridiculous! !! We didn't have many fun places to go growing up in the small towns surrounding this area, can't believe anyone would want to take away the one thing we do have!!!

The Great Pond Rd has always been a public access to Great Pond along with the public boat launch. Grew up there in the 80s and 90s and still bring kiddos to the rec hall and beach and rent kayaks and such. 35years of utilizing this public road, boat launch and beach

This is and always has been a public road. How is it that the Navy thinks they own it and can stop people from going to the pond. Doesn't our government/Navy have better things to do? Always was a public road when I lived there 40 years ago.

Great Pond is not owned by the military. The Great Pond Rd. is a public road with legal access to the pond. You will not keep me or my family out....
