Please allow Donny Overholser President of Fort Myers American Youth Baseball and Softball to reopen his park for reservations for families to gain access to the complex so that they might bring their family household members only to the fields for an hour to play baseball or softball or any other activity they would choose to do. No one else would be in the park during their visit to ensure no spreading of the coronavirus. He had been doing this for 21 straight days and was stopped today.

Seeing this kind of movement is overwhelming after the doors were shut on us so suddenly. It is exhausting work to keep fighting for these families but knowing others feel this same frustration keeps me moving forward.

This has been a blessing for my boys and family to be able to get out and enjoy a safe environment to play baseball and be active. I have been to the ball field at least 6 times and it’s the only place I felt comfortable to take my family. I feel shutting down Sam Fleishman Field is unnecessary due to Donny Overholser’s commitment to providing a safe space for families to enjoy.
Donny has gone through great lengths to ensure the safety of those coming into the park and should be commended. Treat the park as a golf course. It is no less important. Maybe a little more important because it gives the kids a little time out to play some ball.
A man doing great things for ft Myers families just like he has been doing for over 50 years . Goes above and beyond to insure safety of all . Applaud him and his work , he’s keeping us safe . Thank you Donny

My family has been practicing social distancing for over 2 weeks. The only place my children have been to is the baseball field where Donny Overholser has went through extreme measures to make sure that we were all alone and did not come in contact with anybody from the public. Coming to the baseball field 3 or 4 times a week for an hour each time has been my children's only opportunity to get out of the house and run around on an open field doing what they love which is playing baseball. My family takes social distancing very seriously and Donny does as well when it comes to children coming out on the baseball field to have a sense of normalcy during this unprecedented time. I hope that our local leaders will change their minds and allow Donny to continue offering local families a time to be active in a safe environment.
Think of the kids, not the $$$$$%
Donnie is not only following the governor’s guidelines but exceeding them.Please reconsider your decision and allow families to participate in very safe outdoor activities.

Donny has a heart of gold when it comes to kids they are his top priority! Please allow him to continue having this safe place for families to go and have fun during this stressful time in everyone's life. Donny is very committed to all of these families to keep the park a safe place, staying there from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, 7 days a week!
