In their desperation for the zeitgeist the BFI have forgotten to think about women. Not surprised.

Support women. There has been so much public scandal around the treatment of women in this industry. Please take this opportunity to actually support women. Actually celebrate women. Invite a woman to speak.

Of all the people you could have chosen, you've chosen someone who is neither female nor a film-maker. Well done.

I am appalled at the decision by the BFI to choose a male as their keynote speaker, when the focus should be centered on women.

MB is no filmmaker, on top of which they are a transwoman, and not female. There are plenty of talented female filmmakers to choose from for this event.

Another example of women being eradicated in favour of transwomen. No equality here at all.

The BFI should get off this trendy bandwagon and show some respect for women film makers and their lived experience as women. Not impressed.

Berdorf has demonstrated repugnant homophobic and misogynistic views in the past, which ought to be sufficient reason to choose elsewhere. But mainly, this is a rare space for women (born female, socialised and treated as females, with all that entails) to discuss their experience and promote and support each other. Bergdorf actively campaigns against women-only spaces and is certainly not a feminist. What on earth are you thinking?

Female only platforms should be kept for women who were born female. This isn't phobia but about equality and representation. Transgender should have all the rights and equalities afforded to others but not at expense of pushing out women who are already under represnted. Poor show and not a good use of public money, Munroe hadn't spent decades working in low paid jobs trying to raise money and network to make short films she is afforded a life of male privlidge that continues on transition due to celebrity status - BFI Should be about film as art not this kind of sensational tat.

He is neither a woman nor a filmmaker, so his experiences are irrelevant here.

This man thinks his fetish to cross dress makes him a) a woman and b) entitled to speak on behalf of women. I call Bullshit. Also remember the Transcult's insistence that they are not seen or accepted? With the BFI and Amnesty and Stonewall falling over themselves to promote this sexist and homophobic ideology of self identified "gender".

What experience does Bergdorf have in film ? 100 years of women's suffrage and you couldn't choose a female film maker? I'm offended.

Disgraceful that you are erasing women in this way just to be trendy.

Why is someone who is neither a filmmaker nor a female speaking at an event for female filmmakers?
