If you read the letter closely, we are not intent on policing free speech, discouraging dialogue, or silencing voices. We are simply raising our concern that awarding him $10,000 is vastly different than inviting him for the sake of dialogue. As the main author of this statement and joined by many others, I still believe that Tim Keller is by definition diametrically opposed to both our denominational and institutional values when it comes to equality and inclusion. It seems to evade people that we are not talking about shutting down dialogue; we are arguing instead that awarding him is incredibly problematic and opposed to PTS' mission. You need to read more carefully.

I am a graduate of Yale Divinity School but still wish to register my concern over any endorsement of such an action on behalf of a credible theological institution of note. The Rev. Dr. Joy K Bussert Northfield Minnesota USA

How sad that the actions of Princeton Theological Seminary belie its words. One disappointed PC(USA) Ruling Elder here.

M. Div., Class of 2001 I am ashamed and embarrassed by the decision of PTS to honor a man whose writings and advocacy do not honor the full humanity of women and LGBTQ persons. I will not support PTS in any way until this injustice is corrected. Do better!

Awarding this man such a high honor does seem to make the seminary backtrack on its commitments, especially to its frmale students and faculty.

While this prize recipient is an accomplished church professional, he should be honored in another context. This man beliefs are not in alignment with those of PTS. It is offensive to award someone who doesn't recognize the ministry of a high percentage of students and alums of the awarding institution.
