I do not have a child who is transgender, but I am alarmed at the increase in numbers of transgender youth. I absolutely believe that this subject needs to be investigated and certainly studied before making/giving potentially life-changing and damaging drugs and/or surgeries. PLEASE consider the mental and physical health of our youth before making a hasty decision!

Medicalizing kids does not break gender norms.

Woman is adult humAn female, not a costume or sexist stereotypes. WhY research shows SAFETY & EFFICSVY of cross-sex hormones for vulnerable and youth? None. Zero s since this a horrific unregulated medical experiment onhomosexual, autistic and abused kids.

Any health/medical interventions on children should be evidence based and ethically researched. Anything less is harmful quackery

The AAPs recent position statement gives recommendations which will harm children and adolescents. It should be retracted in full. Please read my detailed account as an Endocrinologist as to why it is so problematic and dangerous. http://gdworkinggroup.org/2018/10/24/the-gender-identity-phantom/

First protect your patients with proper diagnostic procedures. Second protect your physicians from future lawsuits.

My child and 5 friends declared themselves transgender in high school. The affirmation only approach prevents any questioning of their motives.

Dear AAP physicians, Your first priority is to "do no harm" Please read this thoughtful summary by endocrinologist Michael Laidlaw, MD, http://gdworkinggroup.org/2018/10/24/the-gender-identity-phantom/

As a clinician myself I am concerned that the AAP’s support of affirmative therapy is laying its members open to compensation claims from young people iatrogenically harmed by unnecessary medical treatment. Please protect your own members and withdraw your support for the trans affirmation of young people.

Where's the beef? There is NO scientific evidence for the 'transgender' state. Unhappy people, yes. Transgender, no. Where is the blood test? MRI? PET? Can you measure it? This is called evidence! Stop practicing witchcraft. Above all else: DO NO HARM.

As the parent of a trans identifying youth i have deep concerns about affirmation therapy. My daughter has suffered anorexia , depression and has been influenced by exposure to the trans idoloogy on social media. Prior to this there was no indication of gender identity disorder

My daughter felt she was transgender as a teenager 12 years ago, She eventually moved away from this belief and now lives as a happy, balanced lesbian. I fear if she was a young teenager now experiencing this she would be given puberty blockers, surgery and a lifetime of hormone treatment without time to work out what she really wanted.

I am in the parent of a child affected by ROGD and to date all authorities have affirmed without question. I am in UK but as this is a problem here and we often follow the US I am looking to you to make a stand and provide our children wit the proper help that they need and not a route to being a life long medical patient.

I’m a parent of a teen who presents with ROGD and underwent affirmative therapy rather than addressing the underlying comorbid issues she suffers with. I’ve since been trying to unpick the damage and I hope it’s not too late for her.
