Civil society is not possible with constant intimidation and abuse by powerful organizations fronting for unjust actions. We must expose and confront false accusations, innuendos and the twisting of facts to silence people.

What an outrageous attack on the right to freedom of expression. Ghassan Kanafani is recognized as a much respected as an original and innovative writer in the Arabic language. Moreover, like Nelson Mandela, he was a freedom fighter.

The DPCDSB is stifling free speech and the rights of those speaking out on Palestinian rights. At the same time, it shames the history and objectives of more than a century of Catholic social justice teachings.

As a Jew and a member of a synagogue, I am offended by the notion that criticism of Israel is anti-semitic and by the use of that misguided notion to deny the right of free spech to supporters of Palestinian people

I am a faithful Catholic, and I support Teachers for Palestine's campaign to end Jewish blacklisting in Catholic schools.

Finally, someone is making crucial points that the public needs to know about. My deepest admiration goes to Ms. Shoufani for her courage.

Talking about the Holocoast at schools was always encouraged. Why can't one educate about the oppression and murders of Palestinians??

I believe academics and educators should not be the subject of witch hunts when they criticize unjust situations that are occurring or have occurred. I support open debate and commentary on all issues and not shutting down those that are a threat to special interests. Stop persecuting our educators for exercising their freedom of expression.

As a Jewish Canadian academic, I find it reprehensible that B'nai Brith, know for fabricating and distorting regarding Israel's illegal settler colonialism in Palestine, should have any influence whatsoever in academic affairs,

If we define terrorism thoroughly, and apply the definition uniformly, we should fear God's judgement...on us.

The unwarranted and injust suspension of Ms. Shoufani is a blatant denial of her right to free speech. The Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board should be ashamed of itself.

Silencing free speech especially in support of oppression is wrong. What would Jesus do?
