While not surprised, completely mortified by board's actions.

These actions were unwise, undemocratic and ultimately destructive.

The acts of the school board in this matter, though they may be technically legal, are under-handed, undemocratic, and will ultimately destroy the trust that the public has in this group.

Am very proud of Nick and the pro charter board members, so proud and hopeful it will no longer be business as usual...

It worries me that the LAUSD is making such important decisions behind closed doors. I hope the new board will demonstrate the utmost transparency in something as important as the evaluation of the superintendent.

If anyone needed assurance that the voters made a wise choice in replacing Steve Zimmer in the recent Board election, here it is!

lausd continues to disappoint, there is no board member executive or otherwise should be allowed to continue in their role without following the proper protocol. shame on you all who voted ms. king an extension. the ruling should be reversed and the new board should be making that decision.

This is the kind of thing the Republicans are doing with the healthcare bill -- pushing it through quickly and secretly. I had thought the LAUSD board was better than that.

Uphold the rules!

This is absolutely wrong. Exiting board members should not be pushing their agenda before they leave office. Especially without public input.

I am truly disgusted by Zimmer and his actions - disgusting behavior.

This closed door vote is outrageous. The school board members who participated should be ashamed of themselves.

The decision about whether to grant Supt King a multi year extension on her contract is one that should be made by the new Board.

Transparency please! These are elected positions so you are accountable to your constituents. It's how democracy works

It's not about Supt King's performance but the blatant and desperate power grab by an outgoing board. We hope the new board will take future decisions out of the dark and bring them into the light.
