This petition informing the Parish Council that as Sportsman of the Bayou Black area keeping the gate closed is a major inconvenience and expensive burden to the thousands of sportsmen that use the launch year-round. As Sportsman we understand when saltwater levels are high the gate needs to be closed but as Spring has arrived and the river levels are up and running, we understand maybe the gate is closed for other reasons and we demand to know the reasons and we would like to see water sample reports in real time. If the gate is broken for some reason, we would like to know why it has not been fixed being the gate was locked during the summer of 2023. Also, as a reminder this is the most convenient way to enjoy the Mandalay National Wildlife Refuge.
