This is the one place where people of all ages can walk. Not everyone has the ability to walk the trails due to age, injury, etc. This safe, flat surface is an area that allows more people to take advantage of the beauty the lake and hill country has to offer.

This is bad news and should not be allowed to happen. We are all taxpayers and the Army Core is Federal.

One person should not hold the power to ruin a recreation spot enjoyed by thousands. Open the Dam.

I take my grandmother every time she comes into town. It’s something we have been doing for years. It’s such a shame if we aren’t allowed to walk it anymore, she will be devastated when she finds out next weekend whenever she gets here. It’s her favorite spot to go and talk and enjoy our time together.

It makes no sense that because 1 person has complained and can not navigate onto the Canyon Lake dam walkway, no one is allowed to enjoy this beautiful, calming walkway.

This is ridiculous. It has been accessible since the 1960’s and should not be closed while they seek a solution. It is a place of beauty, wellness, and community. There are so many simple solutions.
I would like us to consider protesting it’s closure by doing a stand-in on the walkway. I’ve got connections to news organizations.

As a person that's handicapped, I'm a right BKA, I believe that this should be open. If someone that's handicapped doesn't feel safe going on the dam then they shouldn't go, not restrict those that want to walk out, or wheel out as the case may be, and see how majestic it all looks from that vantage point.

Put a railed, concrete overlook, just beyond that big live oak tree and have that satisfy the ADA required accessibility.
We can't make the whole world ADA compliant... lines have to be drawn somewhere... let's use our heads and come up with a solution! "If I can't use it, no one can"...? seems a little childish and rude. BTW... I AM a 20% disabled vet. If I were 100%, I'd feel the SAME way!

Most of us in wheelchairs don't complain because it's too exhausting. It's so common to find businesses that don't bother having ADA compliant restrooms and many that still don't even have ramps. I'm a veteran but my disability is not service related but I get my medical at the VA so I know a lot of vets in wheelchairs who lost their ability to walk fighting for all of us.
Imagine how it must feel to have signed up to fight for your country, get paralyzed fighting in Afghanistan or Iraq, and then come home and not be able to enjoy going across the dam with those you fought for. Now imagine how much worse it must feel to see how many of those people don't care.
This lawsuit was not meant to keep you guys from walking across the dam. It was meant to make it accessible to people with disabilities to also have access. Whether you agree or not, it is a right to have access when it is reasonably accomplished.

I have lived here at CL for over 48 years and have never heard of anyone complain about not being able to get around in a wheel chair. I in fact have helped a number of times with our veterans who had no complaints as well. What is our country coming to.
