This has been one of my favorite spots to walk for over thirty years, the pathways going down to the lake are much more dangerous than the paved dam, unbelievable.

Please keep the road across Canyon Dam opened for the public to enjoy this relic! It is one of the most unique and pure experiences and destinations of so many thousand to let an agenda of so few alter! Someone has to draw a line in the sand and let logic prevail in this day and age of who is offended about everything.

I’ve been walking the dam with my friend and our 2 kids 3 times a week since February. If you walk the dam in the afternoon chances are you know who we are. It has been a huge source of rehabilitation from the baby blues for both of us. Last week we went by there and were beside ourselves to see it closed. This is a cause I can get behind. If I can help get funds raised or raise my voice to help in anyway please let me know.

Why are you closing the dam for public access? Many people use this beautiful walk for health reasons. (Including me). I urge you to re-open the dam walk for us. I drive by the dam frequently and there are always people walking. Don’t take this away from us!!

Why is one person's self-centered attitude allowed to hinder others from improving their health and attitudes by walking the dam. Thank you Linda for sharing your adaptation attitude. Due to polio my father's main mode of transportation for seventeen years was crawling or tools of adaptation. Never once did he complain or hinder others from enjoying life but rather acted as the inspiration for his father to achieve what ever they could with the tools and gifts they had!

Who's the idiot started all this crap? Evidently someone with too much time on their hands. The damn dam needs to stay open for so many people to enjoy. Whoever started this, shame on you! Grow up and stop being a crybaby. Yes, I have a license to bawl you out from your side of the fence 'cuz I, too, use a wheelchair. I do what I can to enjoy life to the fullest, but I'm also smart enough to accept that I won't always be able to access every little nook and cranny that my heart desires. That's just the way it is. But I'd never dream of taking away enjoyment from others just to satisfy my narcissistic personality disorder. You're behaving like a 3 year old. Go to YouTube. Find Don Henley's (or it could be The Eagles, not sure) reality-check masterpiece called "Get Over It." Turn the speakers up and listen closely 'cuz I'm pretty sure he must have been writing it about people like you! Being in a wheelchair does not give you the right to be a horse's rear end. Get a life. Grow up. But, let me add one thing here, and ask all readers of my rant please remain seated at concerts - you can see when you're seated, and so can I But when you stand, I can't see thru y'alls behinds. Thanks!

If the dam was never declared a trail, why does it need to adhere to accessibility rules? Post "at your own risk" signs and let it continue to be a place to enjoy.

LIARS! “Safety Concerns”? Really?? Kim Collara and her cronies at the COC and every Canyon Lake politico who endorsed this ridiculous measure needs to be recalled! ONE PERSON (some self-appointed guardian for the safety of all the rest of us) makes a squawk that he/she feels this service road is a danger, after 60 years of being essentially accident free, and the wimps who consider themselves "leaders" simply buckle to his/her demands hoping to avoid any possible "controversy" and to CYA.
Well, you've got some controversy now, you spineless cowards. How dare Ms. Collara say that she feels this is a "non-issue" with all the other trails available and that this closure should not affect local business! Wrong, Ms. Know-it-all! We've just taken Canyon Lake off our list of places to visit when we want some R&R. The dam was the main reason we drove from New Braunfels ten or more times a year for a day-trip or to entertain guests visiting from out of town.
I can say with absolute certainty, that there is likely a 100 to 1 ratio of disabled people who feel precisely the opposite about the so-called "safety concerns" Ms. Collora cites as the reason the dam service road is being closed. For your information you pandering, gutless fool, there are far more safety risks in using the wilderness trails you say are safer than a 30-ft wide, paved, completely flat and well-maintained walkway that is the "service road". A great many people who used and appreciated the service road were disabled, elderly, or people who simply don't have the physical stamina, or are vision-impaired, etc. etc. and can't navigate hiking trails with inclines, and the potential for tripping on foliage, holes in the terrain, etc.
Citizens of the Canyon Lake area, I highly advocate starting a recall petition for any and all cowards who claim they represent our collective interests when they clearly place a solitary statement of concern about safety or access by one jerk, desperate for relev
