My teaching has improved tremendously through both the training and support given by @one. I served as a distance education coordinator before and through the pandemic. Many instructors who pivoted to online learning, still need support. Many of them are now in a position to improve their instruction by taking additional training. If California Community Colleges want to remain viable, excellent online instruction is critical. Local colleges can not support the type of training provided by @One.

There is a reason the California Community Colleges are broadly recognized as national leaders in online learning, and that reason is @ONE. This small but mighty team provides cutting edge training and resources to the entire system, and it drives innovation and excellence on our campuses. Most college districts don't have the capacity to hire a team to recreate what @ONE provides for the entire system, so we see @ONE as absolutely essential to the work we do and to equitable student success.
Like many DE Coordinators, I would not be in my current position if not for my @ONE training. I came to @ONE in 2011 to brush up on my online teaching skills, and I learned so much that I stayed to earn a certificate. Soon after that I began teaching @ONE courses and was soon leading my college's DE program. This happens throughout our system--@ONE is our system's primary driver for instructional excellence and leadership development in DE.
@ONE has been nationally recognized by the Online Learning Consortium for its outstanding professional development program, winning the Award for Excellence in Faculty Development for Online Teaching in 2019. The Online Network of Educators is a treasure, and it is past time for it to be permanently funded.

In fifteen years of teaching in community colleges and in both taking and later developing and facilitating a wide variety of PD, @ONE training is consistently the highest quality PD I have seen. It's been groundbreaking and is used and emulated far outside California. It provides high-quality research-informed training for CC faculty to learn to teach humanized, equitized, dynamic online courses, and the training is generally immediately implemented and utilized. The measurable impact this has on student achievement is profound. In a system where we have a lot of very high-quality, necessary PD, @ONE is a crown jewel in our statewide PD system. CC students and faculty would greatly benefit not just from keeping @ONE static, but from greatly increasing its funding and resources, as new courses are developed, courses are revised to keep them current, and opportunities for a wide variety of engagement continue to be developed by the ever-cutting-edge, dedicated, and responsive @ONE team.

@ONE has been instrumental in ensuring high quality online instruction in my own instruction, at my college, and statewide. It also provides consistently good professional development statewide, the best I've in which I've ever participated in my 18 years of teaching. Any change that undercuts @ONE truly makes no sense to me in the current climate of increased online instruction and student support.

As a very small community college with -0- instructional designers, we depend on the valuable training and adoptable training content that @One has provided through the years, especially the COVID days and getting 300 faculty up and running online in 24 hours. I honestly do not know what we will do if this valuable resource is not kept intact.

I came into my role as Instructional Designer with a Master's Degree in the field but most of my educational career was spent in K-12 so I had a lot to learn about Higher Education and particularly CCCs if I was going to be effective in my role. I was immediately connected to the Online Network of Educators (@ONE) for the POCR training course, self-paced courses for learning Canvas, and I observed a couple of our college faculty use adoptable @ONE courses to support those new to teaching online in spring-summer-fall of 2000. I literally cannot imagine what the state of online learning would be at our campus and in the system if it weren't for the amazing PD provided by the @ONE folks. They truly have formed a strong learning community among faculty that benefits students and their website resources seem endless in addition to the formal PD courses they offer. Add to that the one-on-one support from IDs like Helen Graves and you have an organization that excels in its purpose and we cannot risk it being lost or cut back. The impact is great and we need to ensure it keeps going and growing.

@One has been an amazing part of my professional life in so many ways. First, taking the fully Online Certification course between 2011-2012 helped me secure full-time work in the CCCs as an instructional designer. My mentors and instructors have been instrumental in helping me continue to grow and in serving faculty now as a CCC administrator.
@One has always been there to support us. During the start of the pandemic, we could count on ongoing professional development to help our faculty transition to a new teaching environment. The POCR process ensures high quality courses that contribute to the success of our students. @One's work in creating learning experiences around humanizing instruction and critically responsive teaching has transformed many of us.
In short, the services and @One team are essential not only to distance education, but to our CCC community as a whole.
