This camp has been part of my life for so many years, it would be nice to be able to say goodbye

Camp Winding River is a special place for generations of campers. I attended as a camper, program counselor, adult volunteer, and as a mother of Girl Scouts. Our programming has evolved symbiotically with the camp property. Our directors and volunteers knows the layout and capabilities of the camp. We’d love for this camp to serve another generation of Girl Scouts or at least another year as we navigate running a camp safely during (or hopefully post) COVID-19.

CWR has been a home away from home for me for 20+ years. I’m heart broken by the news of the sale and would love one more summer to say goodbye

Your decision to sell Camp winding River is well respected and understood. Please allow us campers, PAs, PA grads, adult volunteers, friends and family of Girl Scouts to have one last year to make peace with the legendary and beloved CWR. Thank you

Camp Winding River is a special place that holds many memories. Please let us have one more summer to say goodbye as it was already robbed from us in 2020 because of the pandemic.

The powers that be, in the Girl Scout Orgsnization, need to carefully Read and ponder the GS Law. Then, ask themselves if THEY were responsible. Did they use resources wisely, did they make the world a better place. The world of the Girl Scouts that we’re looking forward to attending camp this summer at Camp Winding River are not feeling that their world is a better place. The counsel needs to step up to the plate and answer these questions. Please make every attempt to get these precious your women together this summer for one last camp. Inviting former campers would be a good idea. They need closure and you are the ones that’s can make that happen. Please!

My daughter was to have her first camp experience this past summer, but it was cancelled due to covid. I would like for her to be able to experience camp, even if it's once!

As a camp director myself, I sympathize with the folks at all of the day camps. We are all volunteers and deserve the courtesy of adequate support and time to process and plan for the future.

Not exactly fair to those volunteers that were working on plans for this upcoming year. Our daughter was disappointed that she couldn't go last year and would love to get one last year in at the camp.

I believe that 2020 had impacted all of us in ways we could not imagine. With most events or venues cancelled and / or closed in 2020. The only fair way to handle the closing of such a beloved campsite for all girls young and the older ones who have spent time at Camp Winding River. Is to allow summer 2021 to be the final year. It would be hard enough to be told it is closing in a Normal year but 2020 is not a normal year. Please reconsider your decision to make 2020 the final year. Girl Scouts is better than this. Show your support for all girls young and older. So we can all see the GS spirit shine brightly through adversity

It's a shame they are closing everything closest to the lake county area, Our camp, and the resource center, They appear not to care about the girls in our area. I have volunteered for many years at camp and my daughter wants to continue to be a volunteer for many summers to come. There has to be other options to keep day camps close to our area.
