I highly suggest Allegheny look at institutions such as William and Mary, who through the “lemon project” have been working to acknowledge and address their role in slavery and racial injustice.

Very disappointed. Hopefully Allegheny can do better.

The use of the word “Blacks” is only the first of many qualms I have with the original statement made by President Link and Dean Dukes. I suggest the phenomenal faculty in the social justice fields on campus be consulted before issuing another statement!! It is our job as alumni to hold our alma mater accountable for not upholding the values of the institution. The Statement of Community says it all, something along the lines of “confronting and challenging racism”.

Class of 2019. Allegheny's reluctance to support their students on this and several other campus issues is nothing short of appalling and disappointing. College administration must do better.

I’m deeply disappointed to see this kind of apathy and disingenuousness from my Alma Mater.

Allegheny was the place where I first learned how deep the roots of systemic racism reached, both in my classes and in the conversations I had with the student community. I think asking for a revised statement that reflects a more active and pursuing mindset from the administration going forward just makes sense.

I fully support each statement in this petition. I graduated from Allegheny College in May 2016.
