A student should not be isolated because of a specific challenge, especially if that challenge does not pose a threat to the health and safety of her peers.

Olivia is an exceptional child willing to try anything, for as long as I have known her she has been a self advocate as I would not consider her visual impairment as a hindrance to her achieving whatever she wants for her life now nor in the future. She is a beautiful young lady who deserves the right to participate in any and all clubs she wishes and should not be held back due to a "placement by label"

Go Olivia! Wake County School System sucks!!! They don't care about children - they care about numbers, percentages and test scores for their advantage only. Children are not a number and deserve to go to the school in their community! Social skills, and community support structure should be higher on their priority list!!

We have a VI 4 year-old and fortunately our county's schools all accommodate VI students. I'm sure your situation is extremely frustrating and I hope you can come to a good resolution with the school district.

As the mother states middle school is hard enough for the child without "different abilities". EVERY child deserves a familiar support system as a spring board to foster growth and development while they explore what life has to offer and makes new connections. PERSON FIRST NOT LABEL.

As a blind adult, I would have no interest in being sent to a school which is solely for visually impaired people. We are so much more than that. We deserve the opportunity to learn, to grow, to experience, and to follow our own individual interests. We are so much more than just visually impaired. Don't stick us all in the same box, or in Olivia's case, the same limited classroom.

I could see The forced transfer if Olivia were struggling but that's not the case. She is doing well in the school she is in. The school needs to stop being the bully they obviously are.

Olivia would be a true asset to any school! She belongs in her neighborhood school with her friends from her community. The days of segregation are over. Please make it work by giving her the supports she needs.
