I am astounded by the lack of funding and beds available in mental health units/hospitals. Even if a patient is sectioned this is still not a guarantee that a bed will be found and if you are one of the lucky ones who do get a bed it can be anywhere in the country making it impossible for friends and family to easily visit the patient.

From the time it takes for someone to be admitted into hospital after trying to take his/her life to managing to find them a bed in a safe secure place is far to long and sadly sometimes to late. 1 in every 5 elderly people are suffering from mental health, and a lot of them are alone with no family and seem to be forgotten about. Elderly people are a part of every community and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. I want our government to look at the implications that cutting the money that goes into our mental health units and hospitals has done. If we can give funding and campaigns for other health issues that can kill you, why cant the same be done for mental health issues? One advert has been made for mental health yet how many have you seen for cancer, stroke, heart, even cholesterol. Depression can and does kill. Please help to make changes and get some more funding by signing this petition, we will all be old one day and you never know if you might need the service yourself one day.
This petition has been created for a truly brave woman who will win the battle no matter how long we will need to fight it.
