To put in place measures during this time of financial crisis in state government that would put a further drain on public school monies is criminal negligance. Try putting money INTO public schools for a change.

I am a teacher and I don't want funds to be pulled away from our neediest students, students who could never get the transportation needed to use vouchers. Vouchers benefit the wealthy and widen the achievement gap.

Vouchers will not help poor kids move to a private school (most of which are not better then public schools). That's a Republican myth--that everyone in a poverty-stricken school can move to a different, private one. They have no transportation. the have no clothes

Vouchers take dollars away from public schools which are already greatly underfunded. Research shows that private schools do not do a better job at educating students.
