As a future educator, I do not support the voucher system for various reasons, the chief of which is that it takes money from the public school systems. It strips financial support from schools that are generally already lacking in this aspect.

We can't provide the money necessary to our public schools so why in the world would we start diverting funds toward private schools? The voters of Oklahoma should be outraged at the very thought! We have got to get serious about funding our public schools so that they are able to offer great educational opportunities to all the students who come through their doors. I call on legislators to vote a resounding "NO" on any legislation that supports vouchers for private schools. Oklahoma children are dependent on you to make the right choice.

How many parents can truly afford the "choice" of private school even with these additional dollars? How many private schools will accept many of these kids? How does a parent even know if the money they pay to private school is worth it without accountability? The logic of all of this does not make sense. In addition, education is the foundation needed to help many of our students escape their current situation. The future of Oklahoma counts on public education. Fully fund it first!

I'm (almost) 60 years old. The public schools I attended provided me with a top notch education. I don't want MY tax dollars to be diverted to private schools or home schooling. It's downright UNAmerican!!!!! Poor children DESERVE the same opportunities as children from more affluent familys. IMO this is yet another attempt to keep the less fortunate down and it's WRONG!!!!!
