I was a dispatcher for a short time in Oklahoma. Part of my job was to hand out meds to prisoners, answer 911 calls, and unfortunately get cursed out for trying to help prisoners with glasses, and daily living issues, set up prisoner/family visits. That is not a secretary. Please think about the issues.

911 Dispatchers are the first ones to answer the calls of citizens having emergencies, having a crisis, or are in danger for their life. They are the lifeline of information from the citizen to the police officers and other first responders that are en-route to help them. They are not secretaries they are the first responder.

Dispatchers are part of the 1st responders team, the job they do is extremely difficult and mentally/emotionally taxing.

911 dispatcher do not get the recognition they deserve, the people calling in are in need of help and many times sadly the dispatchers are the ones they hear while taking there last breath or while a family member doesgive them the same credit you give the officers, firefightes and first responders because they are beyond a doubt every bit as important as all these jobs.
