Dispatchers should absolutely be classified as first responders. Do not decide against this until youve a worked a shift in their shoes!

My mom works for the village police department as a 911 dispatcher and I feel like they do need to be reclassified

As a dispatcher I agree that we are the true first responders. Police, fire, EMS don't get to where they need to go without us. Give us the same rights and respect as those the public see.

I worked 15 years or more in this field. Its beyond time to bring these employees up to a decent pay grade. Long hours, no days off, my longest was 8 months of 12 hour days & nights. Trained many who in turn would quit. its a very thankless position to hold.

They are THE first responders. The police or fire or ambulance would not be going where they are needed if it wasn't for the the dispatchers. These ladies and gentlemen need more respect than they are getting being classified as secretaries is a disservices to them all.

These dispatchers work hard and are the voices for public safety. They are life line for officers in the field and deserve the utmost respect as first responders. They take the first call when someone needs help and have to be at work as essential personal. They are first responders!
