My 2008 Jeep Wrangler is consuming oil at an accelerating rate since it hit 50k+ miles. At 60k it now requires 1 quart of oil every thousand miles just to maintain "safe zone" levels. I complained to Chrysler only to be told this is an industry standard rate of oil consumption. Chrysler will not take any responsibility and admit to any faults. Individual complaints will not be entertained by Chrysler nor most dealerships. A Class Action Lawsuit is absolutely necessary. There must be good reason to why later model jeeps have a completely new engine design and Chrysler knows why.

Well Oil Consumption is not the only Problem....I am considering a Class Action suit myself. I have an 08 from , Blew Motor #1 @ 65k they put a short block in in under " Lifetime Drive Train Warranty " But put all the Old parts Oil Pump, Pick Up system, Heads ect from the original Engine...I am religious about changing my oil, But I don't keep " Receipts " I log my self changes in doc file. of course that is not the end of the story, Motor 2 Blows 22,000 miles later. Crystal Chrysler of Cathedral City, Cal. has decided NOT to honor my Lifetime Drive Train Warranty this time.....
the 3.8 is well known in Jeeps & in the Town & Country Mini Van to have major Oil Issues......So I having my jeep trailered to an independent ASE certified Engine Specialist & having it tore down to the smallest piece. When it is shown that I personally had nothing to do with either catastrophic failure, I am going to sue up the Wazzoo...
This is Serious Bull Pucky & we as Jeep Owners deserve better than run around & trying to get out of Warranties via stupid loopholes......

Bought my 2008 May 10, 2014 put maybe 10k miles on it 2 oil changes and I am told it now need a new lower motor. Extended warranty company is trying to state that the cause of engine failure is due to lack of oil. Absurd...

Bought new. Now with less than 25000 miles used 2 quart oil in 2400 miles. jeep should be a shame. Now they have the 3.6 engine and don't have to worry about people with the 3.8

First we blamed the oil change place we went to, but realize this problem is much bigger. It actually died on us one time at about 3k miles after the oil change because of the lack of oil.

2008 wrangler that burns almost a quart every 1k miles. Been happening since day one. Now that these 07 and 08 wranglers are starting to hit 100k miles, im guessing we will start seeing the side effects of this oil burning (eg. Catalytic converter fail).
'07 jk consumes about a quart every 1,000 miles.
