Why take the chance?why put our children in harm's way? Why cant teachers do zoom class room learning? Just seems like a big chance take for 2 days a week of school, will the school pay for my families medical Bill's if my child brings covid 19 home? Let use our heads for people, we have people with higher education and teaching our children that will be future leaders and people that will be taking care of us when we are old, what are we teaching them money is more important that people's heath.

So you are saying, then, that children do not benefit from social interaction? Does that mean you think they are better off in isolation? Or better only interacting with other humans through their phone, computer or social media? I won't claim to have done the research on that, so I also won't claim I am right, but that doesn't make sense to me. And if you really feel that way, why don't you keep your own daughter locked inside the house instead of permitting her to work 2 jobs outside the home, driving all over town to see her boyfriend and hang out with friends, both during the "lockdown" period and after? Seems hypocritical, at best. I see other names of people commented on here that are also opposing going back to school, but who also currently let their kids go out and about (without masks) to do things with friends right now, even practice with their sports teams (including indoor club swim team AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.) What is the difference? You can argue all you want about not feeling safe to go back to school, and with good reason - there are many valid reasons why going back in person is dangerous, I get it - but if you are currently permitting your own kids to be out in public when they want, hang out with other kids, go to friends' houses, work in crowded places with no masks, practice with sports teams, etc, it really negates your argument. By letting them do these things, you are 1. Recognizing that it IS important for them to maintain social interactions and 2. Potentially exposing them to the virus and/or bringing it back into your home already. If these are the main concerns about returning to school in person, your argument would have more of an impact coming from people who are really living this way, (or forcing their high school aged kids to live this way), by staying in the home and only going out as necessary. Not all parents want to send their kids to school because they don't know what to do with them or because they don't want to spend time with them. What a sweeping comment. My kids do quite well with online learning. They are self sufficient. I don't have to police them or help instruct. They are gifted cognitively and great students inside and outside the classroom. We are blessed to have operational equipment and high speed internet in our home and don't want for food, childcare, etc. It is no issue for me to have my kids at home. I love spending time with them. But they are not received the same quality education online that they receive in the classroom, period. There is no comparison. I worry they will fall behind in their studies, from an educational standpoint, if not in the classroom. I also worry about the emotional and social impact of them not being around other people, teachers, students, friends, etc. I fear we will not even fully realize the full social and mental health impact for years to come. If you all want to be mad at someone, don't be mad at the school district or say they are greedy for wanting funding. I don't want funding cut off for our schools, either. Then what happens when we do go back full time? Programs, staff and other things could be cut. The district was put between a rock and hard place, just like all the other districts in our state and our country. They are trying to do the best they can with the resources they have. No plan is perfect. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the president for putting them in that situation to have to make the choice between opening and future funding to begin with. I own a home in the Oak Hills district. As a former teacher in Kentucky (k-3 certified) an educator in Florida (7th-11th), I feel this school district needs to understand the needs and detriments to our children. As was seen on Wednesday, it is really DIFFICULT TO BE BEHIND A MASK for 15 minutes as WELL AS 6 or more hours. I know the administrators are very willing to substitute as teachers become ill as well as providing special rooms for students with special breathing needs in buildings with NO air conditioning. Please consider ALL INVOLVED. I feel EDUCATION IS VITAL!! OAK HILLS IS one of the most professional and sought after school areas in OHIO!! The staff I have met, talked with, been advised by, and grown to admire are TOP QUALITY!! These teachers are the BEST!! The additional staff in each building gives much to every child and parents as well. Be careful. THANK YOU FOR TRULY PUTTING THESE INDIVIDUALS FIRST and BEING WILLING to CHOOSE what is vital to the generation of THE FUTURE.

As a parent, I am really concerned about the safety of my children being at OHLSD. I mean you guys did the board meeting virtually becasue of the pandemic. How and why do you expect to put kid's life in danger becasue what, you want school funding? Shame on you!! How dare you try to put our kids lives in danger becasue you don't know the answer at the moment. Well no one knows the correct answer. And the best answer is to keep them out for 1st and 2nd quarter and if it has to go into the 3rd quarter then so be it. Have more zoom meetings with the kids instead of the one measily 30 minute zoom that we had weekly. You don't want kids to suffer with being social, but yet you didn't provide them with enough social interaction when we were virtaul. Have kids do more zoom meetings with the teachers, have the teachers be more involved with the school work. You expect so much from our children but you can't provide enough resources. Instead of having all the information written down in a syllabus, you should also have the teacher make a video with instructions for those kids that need to hear it auditory instead of visual. You know every kid is different, so accommodate for each of those students. You claim to be educators, but how are you being educators when your not providing enough for the children, Step up your virtual game and make the kids go virtual. Parents will continue to send their sick kids to school becasue they don't have a sitter, or they can't be off work. It will happen and it's always happened. One teaspoon of Tylenol and then they get sent school. You know it's more common all the time. If you make the decision now to have it virtual then you will give parent enough time to find sitters and backups or even someone to teach their kid during the day. You should be apart of some of the parents groups that we have within in OHLSD. Majority of the parents just want to send their kids to school becasue they are sick of them. And it's quite sad. You DO have a choice. We ALL do. If any of us want to take advantage of Online Learning, we are permitted to do so. In fact, in the official plan that was released, 3rd paragraph, bullet point 4 reads: "Meanwhile, all students will also have the option of choosing full-time, ongoing remote learning by enrolling in the Oak Hills K-12 Virtual Academy. These students will continue in remote learning no matter what the state alert level is, or how the district changes its instructional approach." It seems this is exactly what you've asked for, and there is no 9 week limit on it. I really must wonder if those so opposed to this plan even bothered to really read it in its entirety? Because I am still failing to see the issue. Choices abound. Honestly, it seems the ones that want their children in school have more of a case to petition, considering if the county is a level 4, they have NO choice but to do remote learning. Not that I feel that way, just pointing out that really those folks are the ones with more of a cause to complain because they would be left with no choice. You can cry about only having a 4 hour notice, but what would having more notice have done? Would you have attended the meeting? Because I believe it was streamed so people could keep socially distanced. What would having more notice have helped in your situation? We all got the same notice and can all read what was put out there. Period. I think everyone complaining needs to take a step and realize how incredibly difficult it has been for the school district to decide such things under such unique circumstances. I can't imagine the great weight they have had thrust upon them, and the pressure to make the right decisions for everyone. It simply won't be possible to please everyone. The school district kind of stole the choice when they gave us a 4hr notice on that meeting your so passionately referencing! This petition is still relevant. Remote learning was only approved concretely for the 1st semester. We need our children to be safe for more than 9 weeks. If you argue others including yourself want a choice than the parents who are highly concerned about safety deserve real practical choices as well! This could have been handled better.

As a parent I am disheartened by the way the school district has handled the pandemic. Though I understand we are all human and doing the best we can. The bottom line is we NEED to keep our children safe. Yes that means sacrifices will be made. As the adults and leaders its our duty to keep them safe. Remote learning needs to be made available ALL year, TODAY! Our children need real stablity, safety and answers. The future depends on their safety now more than ever!

I have 3 children in the district. I also have multiple diagnoses which make our family high risk. Please for the safety of the community do school fully online until there is no longer a threat.

I get the sense that some are insinuating there was some conspiracy by the OHLSD to not send surveys to everyone or only count certain responses. Do you really think they have the time or resources to weed out those they thought might not give the response they wanted? Get a grip. Your email address was likely never in their data base for the district wide email distributions, or for some other more reasonable and far less sinister reason.

Did this petition come out before the OHLSD board even voted on and released their plan? Because the petition above specifically states "We would like to invite the board to view the Forest Hills reopening plan. While no plan is perfect, their plan at least calls for the awareness that when our county is a Level 3 or Level 4, schools should not be fully open." If one had actually read the OHLSD plan that was released, they would see that it clearly shows only levels yellow and orange call for full classroom learning. Level red (3) calls for a blended plan and level purple (4) calls for full remote learning. Which is what you are asking for. Is this petition even still relevant? Furthermore, those that don't feel comfortable sending their children to school have the option to not send them and do online learning. That is your choice. Allow others to have their choice to make their own decision. No one is saying you can't opt for what works best for your family.

My mother is a school nurse. She will be in close contact with all potentially covid infected students. Does her health and safety and subsequently the health and safety of the people she lives with not matter?

I feel that it's not safe for our kids to be at school because the virus is still going around. It would be very difficult for our children to wear masks all day.

I am against reopening. I think remote learning right now is the best. You have to worry about passing in the hallways and who your children associate with. I hope you strongly consider this option.

I know there is an all virtual option, but I think for the safety of everyone, children, staff, and families that we stay virtual for all.
