Objection to proposed Admission Policies SRRCC 2020/21

Very disappointing to see these changes. I and fellow Parents of my sons primary school worked so hard to help get this Catholic Secondary school in our borough and a few years later I now feel let down. I have a second son due to start secondary in September 2020 and this has serious implications on that. Also, the siblings situation with regards to older children who intend to go to the Sixth form, being of help to a younger siblings wishing to attend is also very unclear!

I do not understand this, it is a Catholic School yes? but yet even no faith can get in over a child that already goes to a catholic primary (all be it a different one as st Richard Reynolds was not open at the time). I have a son who already goes to this school and have another due for secondary school in a couple of years, but we have no priority over a non faith person. Come on let’s get this right.

We vehemently oppose the suggested changes to SRR admissions policy. As parents of children at St James’ who campaigned for the creation of a secondary catholic school, we feel these changes are heavily detrimental.

I strongly disagree with this proposal. Why not support all Catholic primaries in the Borough and make them all feeder schools giving equal access. Giving unfair advantage to one primary school is unfair; in my view priority should be given to those children attending Catholic primaries and not to children attending community or private schools. Why does SRR even have a primary school when there is an over supply of places already?

My family campaigned for a Catholic secondary as there was not one in the borough. To give priority to one Catholic primary above all others practically closes the solely Catholic primaries in the area who fought so hard to get this school. We disagree with the proposal.

This is disingenuous- we campaigned for this catholic high school for our children and now it is proposed that SRR primary will be effectively a feeder school. How does this support catholic education in other primary borough primaries? It does not. There is already over supply if primary places in catholic school and this will make it worse. Make all catholic primaries in the borough feeder schools and therefore encourage catholic parents to support catholic primary education - a win win for all.

I fully support the petition. I'm particularly concerned that the process of trying to enact the proposed changes lacked reasonable transparency for all those affected.

I object to the proposed change of admission policy. Through the Diocese's Growing in faith appeal we are indirectly contributing to the building of SRRCC. And when it comes to admission our children are going to get less priority as catholics.

I am a practising Catholic that believes in diversity and inclusion. However, I believe those of faith should have priority in faith school selection. Thanks.
