Good Morning,
This here is not right at all. If anything should happen in this city there's going to be no ways to get out because it's going to be gridlock traffic just like it was when we had the earthquake The mayor and city council really need to sit down and understand that stop making everything one ways as well as taking lanes away from streets

Please do not make 8th St NE one-way. Doing so will force customers to circle through the residential streets when it is not necessary. The area is already congested enough without making the problem worst. It is beginning to become a nightmare to drive through DC. Almost every thoroughfare has been modified in some way. "Please leave well enough alone."

I demand our voices be heard. I'm very tired of DC stopping me from tearing down 8th Street in my car with temp tags and ignoring traffic signals.

It's an embarrassment that DC hasn't completed this link in the MBT to protect the thousands of cyclists and multimodal transit users who travel on it. And the arguments being raised against it in this thread are equally embarrassing. Just drop the pretense and admit you care more about your cars than the safety of your neighbors (including children) who bike on 8th.

I both ride a bike (including with my kids) and drive on this street regularly. The advantages of a protected bike lane are far outweighed by the inconvenience a switch to one way will cause of drivers and businesses. Traffic is consistently light, and there is a wide sidewalk.

Making 8th st a one-way will negatively impact local businesses along the stretch. Only large corporate entities can afford to set up shop on Monroe. Enabling 8th St NE allows small businesses to compete for foot, bike, and car traffic. Adding additional speed bumps along the stretch will solve 90% of the concerns faced by trail users and residents at a fraction of the cost.
