I'm opposed to the proposed bike lanes on 8th street NE. It will adversely affect businesses, traffic and residents of Brookland and Edgewood.

I couldn't agree more Shirley! The two lanes of traffic + two lanes of street parking on 8th pose a major obstruction to the safe passage of Brookland residents (and other locals) who use the MBT.
The existing street plan also prevents retailers from reaping the increased business that protected bike lanes reliably bring. Great point.
Time to stop complicating the lives of neighbors, commuters, students, and parents and build the proposed bike lane! Glad to know you're with us.

This is completely unfair to the residents along 8th Street NE. Please consider how the lives of the these residents are affected before initiating plans regarding elimination of parking spaces.

I strongly oppose the elimination of parking spaces in my neighborhood we're already going to lose parking spaces because of the new high-rise apartment buildings on 8th Street so how can we afford to lose even more, the brand new buildings have over 500 tenants with only 187 parking spaces in their buildings ,how much sense does it make to eliminate even more parking on 8th and 7th Street with two new high-rises there's going to be a lot more traffic they're going to be a lot more visitors coming to that building where are they going to park they're going to take the spaces of the people that live in the neighborhood okay so when we come home we have nowhere to park so if you eliminate parking it's going to make it even harder for the people that live in this neighborhood to park in front of their homes this is ridiculous I hope and pray that we get enough signatures to put a halt to this project

It makes no sense to develop an area with businesses and luxury apartments, and arts centers then remove parking, change traffic patterns to create more congestion in this area. This is a bad idea and the changes that are currently underway (bike lanes and parking removal on Monroe, have already impacted metro bus riders, and businesses.

There is SO MUCH wrong with this plan! It will put the hardware store out of business for sure. How will customers find it? And tractor trailers and tow trucks will have to drive on one block, 2-side parking, narrow residential streets to get to Sunbelt Rentals, the body shop, Annie’s Ace Hardware. Etc. etc.

We use the parking/standing lane to help the elderly/those on 8th with washing clothes and loading in groceries and water. Not all homes are equipped with affordable full amenities, like the new up and coming apartment/condos/homes. Overall, this is a terrible idea to pursue as well as a waste of government spending. Fix our economy first, everything shall calmly fall into place later.

Definitely not a good idea, I work at a school on that block and it's the best way to get in and out of the congestion which is already a nightmare in the morning and afternoon.

I not only object for the most basic logical reasons (ranging from loss of business, taxpayer cost concerns, quality of life issues, etc)… but also for the nefarious way DDOT presents data they must know is corrupt.
