If it was an "elected" servant of our community, I'll be sure to post his/her name so we can vote them out come next election. This is a time for the Star Idaho community to come together and stand for our community and let the city know that we strongly disagree with this project. Visit your neighbors, call your friends and lets get the attention of our city officials to stop this.

No. We do not want apartment units built on this parcel. Not in the master plan. The developer and builder are requesting a variance. Totally against granting variance.
We did not move to Star to live next to apartments. We pay property tax on a valuable home. Apartments will definitely lower the value of Pinewood Lakes. The higher density will require additional teachers and perhaps law enforcement.

We moved here 2 years ago from So Cal. We wanted a nice town, rural area, where neighbors knew neighbors. Where you could take a walk and feel safe. Sure you say 36 Apt for Low Income now then what? Star is not the place for these, I would think it would be better used to bring some services to Star for the people that are already living here. We dealt with Low Income Apts in So Cal, and it just brought Gangs, Crime, and no Peace and Quite. Keep me posted so if it does pass we can sell our home.

I have live in low income properties and is not going to help the residents being far away from everything and sadly most people are not ready to grow and change. It will be reflected in their daily activities, before we know it there will be graffiti in pubic playgrounds and unattended children and teens without good things to do. This is a quiet community with out boys and girls club, head star ect.

When we were considering a move to Pinewood Lakes we went to the City of Star to check the zoning of the parcel in question as part of our due diligence. It was our understanding this land was to be commercial not residential. The land in question would be better utilized as an avenue to create jobs; retail, service, etc... for the City of Star. We oppose this project.

This is a nice area and this will eventually turn into a eye sore like all the rest Star has come along ways and the last thing they need is to have this right on the hwy coming into the town foe everyone to see. I feel it will hurt the city and the equity in the the homes near it

How rediculous is this? Lets build a 36 unit low rent gov't subsidized housing unit in downtown Star. That ought to do wonders to attract other upscale business investors and developers to this area. In fact, why don't we take some prime commercial property and see just how much we can devalue it and our community. A terrible idea if there ever was one.

We agree with the previous comments that low-income, government-funded housing in Star is not a good idea because of the lack of resources for the residents of such housing. Plus, because Star is so far from resources such as a large grocery store, hospitals, government offices, etc., it is very expensive to live in Star and we would not encourage the folks who would be living in such housing to move to Star because of these increased costs to those households. We also object to the building of this project on the proposed lot in front of the Pinewood Lakes subdivision. If there is a need for such housing in Star and the resources are available to further assist such low income residents, the project should be built on property that is next to starter homes or other like projects. There are several other vacant lots in Star that could be used to build this project that would not be next to a higher-end neighborhood (like the property where the vacant, condemned motel currently sits) if there is a demand for such housing in Star. Those of us in Pinewood Lakes built or purchased our homes with the understanding that Star-centric businesses would be built on that property, as shown on the Star Comprehensive Plan. Please do not approve the re-zoning of this property.
