Oakley Village Petition in Objection to Hampshire County Council Highways' Proposed Narrowing of Hill Road & Rectory Road, Oakley, Hants

Recent building on Hill Road has already created traffic problems and any changes would only increase danger.

Hill Road is a major route through Oakley There is no need to narrow other than to facilitate a development that is too large and creates significant other issues for the village. The site lines work OK at the moment and to my knowledge there have been no accidents or incidents in this area. The proposal will make off road parking a traffic hazard and restrict access to and from key properties in Hill Road.

A narrower road, pushing traffic nearer the well trodden walking route to Oakley primary school, to support increased traffic? That's a serious accident waiting to happen. 100% agree with these objections.

A Traffic scheme such as this, apart from causing major congestion and safety issues, would be totally out of place in a traditional village such as Oakley, changing the character of the village.

Hill Road/Rectory Road is already congested at this point due to park cars and buses having to negotiate what is already a narrow road. To restrict the road any further will only create a bottle neck with the potential of it becoming an accident black spot. This application takes no heed whatsoever of the needs of the village and the safety of its residents.

I object to the narrowing of the road, this already narrow road will cause an even greater danger to residents and traffic.

It is ridiculous to consider narrowing Hill Rd further. It is already narrow enough, with many regularly-parked vehicles effectively making it single track. To provide a pinch point would cause queues to form alongside these parked vehicles, gridlocking the road.

I am against the proposed road schemes it is in my opinion unnecessary

I totally support the objection points raised and in particular the negative effect it will have on pedestrians and motorists who regularly use these two roads.

I feel most venerable now walking along Hill Road with my Granddaughter, to bring the traffic closer to the footpath is crazy. An accident waiting to happen

These two schemes are seriously dangerous to pedestrians and will be very frustration to the existing resident of Oakley who use these road

If the houses cannot be built without restrictions to the narrow road then the new houses should be built elsewhere in Oakley. Easier access to the B3400 must be a better alternative.

These proposals by Gleeson can only have negative effects on pedestrians and motorists alike.

I think if this proposal were adopted, the village would sieze up.

This will turn our village lanes into traffic heavy roads. It will become dangerous for pedestrians, horse-riders and dog-walkers.
