Hi Bill. To fully list all the hours that the pool is available to various groups would have made this a very confusing petition. Yes, Oakland Tech PE classes do have some access to the pool. This petition very clearly states that we are asking for *greater* access. The PE classes do not use the entire pool when they are there, only two lanes. The rest of the pool is still available to the other groups you mention, even when the PE classes are there. Laird Harrison

This petition is misleading. It does not clearly identify that Oakland Tech students already have regularly scheduled access to the Temescal Pool and that the author of the petition wants that access expanded which would come at the expense of turning away Oakland swimmers who currently use the pool during those hours, many of these swimmers are disabled, elderly, or unable to exercise in any other way. The replies to this petition like "Please make the pool available to Oakland Tech students" give me a strong impression that those signing it are not fully informed of the details of the situation and I think that the ambiguous language of this petition is the cause of that.

Please make the pool widely available to Tech students. Where else can these students learn to swim and improve their skills? Swimming is such a wonderful and important life-long sport.

Swimming as part of the PE curriculem may be the only chance some kids get. Please make the pool available to all Oakland Tech students so they can have the opportunity to learn or improve their swimming skills.

Very important to support swimming as healthy exercise in our teens, some of the students are learning for the first time to swim! Keep the pool open to Tech students and be part of expanding their horizons, not part of restrictions opportunities!

I swim at Temescal frequently, and I love seeing Tech students there, knowing that many kids who would not otherwise learn to swim are doing so in high school.

I swam at the pool for pE while at Tech, taught swimming there during summers and attended Y clubs at the Rec Center the whole time I was at Tech. I have been a Commissioner on Healdsburg's Parks and Rec Commission for 16 years with a very supportive agreement between schools and pool. I encourage you to keep up the practice of sharing resources!

Please let Oakland Tech PE students continue to use the Temescal Pool! It's one of the worthiest uses of this Oakland public pool -- helping kids from all over the city learn to swim and stay healthy. I'm glad my taxes are used to pay for this great service. And my child goes to Oakland Tech, too.

The Oakland community is best when we share resources to improve the lives, health and safety of or residence. The temescal pool is a valuable resource that has made a difference in our kids lives. The city should do everything possible to maximize access. Than you

Everyone should learn to swim! It's great that Tech is willing to teach this important skill. Please continue to provide access to the pool so students can learn this important skill.

Please allow our students to swim again. As Oakland taxpayers, our children should be allowed to use the pool. It's important for their health.

Swimming is an important skill. I'd hate to see our young people denied a chance to develop this skill as part of their physical education.

Please allow our kids continued access to the pool during their PE classes. The chance to learn how to swim (or refine their swimming skills) has been invaluable.
