There are so many reasons to allow citizens to have hens within the city of Oak Ridge.

I want chickens. There's so many reasons to have them: provide great eggs, save money, and have great pets. I really don't understand why anyone would be against this, other than perhaps corruption.

There is absolutely no legal reason citizens shouldn't be able to keep a reasonable amount of livestock on their property.

I have zero interest in raising chickens, but no objection to my neighbor having them.

We own property and a home in Oak Ridge and would love for Backyard Hens to be available.

I most likely will not be raising hens although I would like the option to do so in the future. I think everyone should have the option open to them with some stipulations. If the neighbors complain about noise or smell, then they should either have a mediator or similar to decide if they can keep them. Pretty much along the same lines as goes for any other pet.

My husband and I have been wanting this for several years. Having this possibility excites us and we truly hope that this passes. PLEASE give us this freedom.

Raising hens is not dirty, loud, or destructive. It IS sustainable, economical, educational, and fun! Let us have chickens!

I live at 87 Outer Drive in Oak Ridge. I think it is important to allow people to raise up to six hens on their property within the Oak Ridge city limits. Please review Knoxville's regulations regarding backyard hens as a model. Thanks.

I lived in Woodland with chickens a few houses down from me for several years before I knew about them. They were in the yard at the corner of Parsons Road and South Purdue. I spent a lot of time outdoors and never smelled anything or heard anything. Knoxville has had this for several years without complaints. I agree that we should only allow hens, no roosters, no butchering, and limits of 4-8. Thank you for giving this consideration.

I think we all need a say in how our food is processed and how better than to do that at home.

Yes, I agree that this would be good for the residents of Oak Ridge.
