To My Constituents: Governor David Paterson is proposing to withhold State Income Tax Refunds. I oppose this plan. This is your money. Many people rely on the timely return of their state refund to balance their own check books. The state’s fiscal crisis can’t be balanced on the backs of taxpayers. That’s why I am establishing a public campaign to stop the Governor. Please sign this petition to let David Paterson know that you want your tax refund now. Call the Governor at 518-474-8390 and tell him not to withhold tax refunds. Also, call my office at 885-9630 if you want to get more involved in this effort. This issue is one symptom of New York’s budget crisis. I voted “No” on the 2009 budget. (Unfortunately, I was one of only a handful from upstate who opposed the budget) New York State government seems unwilling or unable to reform itself. As a result, we are facing a 9 billion dollar budget. This is unacceptable. Budget reform must happen this year. Attached you will find my Deficit Reduction Plan that I proposed last year and I am pushing for again this year. This plan won’t solve all of our problems but I believe it could be the bedrock for a new economic future. You can get more information on my plan from my web site, www.samhoyt.com. But Albany is mired in politics, division and special interests. That’s why I need your help. I am asking you to help me reform New York. I need Albany to hear directly from my constituents. Please call the Governor and ask him to support meaningful reform. Tell him to hold the line on new taxes and fees. Ask the Governor to support my Deficit Reduction Plan. I am prepared to vote “No” again but I would rather vote “Yes” for a budget that is based on principals of change and reform.
