At a meeting on 25 March 2007, the Board of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland decided to merge the two existing orchestras, the NYSOI (members aged between 18 and 24) and NYOI (members aged between 12 and 18) into one orchestra. This decision was announced last week on the National Youth Orchestra\'s website, ww.nyoi.ie. Please read this announcement very carefully.
The National Youth Orchestra has been searching for a new General Manager since March 2006, when Joanna Crooks announced her retirement after 11 seasons. At this time (April 2007) a new General Manager has not been found. The organisation is without a Chief Executive
The signatures are increasing at a steady pace as we approach the one thousand milestone. Please direct others to this page now to ensure our momentum remains strong during this transition period.

The lack of leadership within the organization remains a significant point of concern for all involved. I am currently coordinating with several stakeholders to ensure that the impact of this proposed merger is properly examined before any irreversible changes occur.

Leave the youth orchestras alone. They have been running fine for years and now someone wants to change everything. Typical.

Ridiculous decision. If they cant find a manager they should just keep looking instead of wrecking the whole system.

This is a disaster. Taking away opportunities from young musicians is the last thing this country needs. Keep them separate!

Total madness. Merging these age groups just destroys the experience for everyone. Sort out the management and leave the orchestras alone.
