Once again the Times creates versions of stories, not facts.

I've always enjoyed the New York Times, but they need to consult experts in this case and not publish for a headline.

I love bats like no tomorrow, and these little guys need to survive to help the ecosystem

Shameful that this was presented as fact. There's enough unfounded fear of bats without these lies being spread by "reputable" sources.

It is irresponsible to create unwarranted fear, especially as bats pay for this fear with their lives.

Your spreading lies about bats perpetuates violence against one of the most important species in our ecosystem! Bats are critical to insect control and our greatest defense against insect (re: MOSQUITOS) born viruses. Your misguided information is directly responsible for fear and murder of bats.

Bats are an important part of the environment. The media gives them a bad rap.

The NY Times should be focusing on how important bats are for our environment, but this drivel.

I like bats and I don't appreciate it when people spread misinformation about them.

Bats, along with several other types of animals, are subject to continued prejudice based on lack of education on accurate information and misrepresentation in the media.
