Not acceptable to be in this situation in our Final Year. Having the majority of our exams during our last week of term doesn't make sense. Not getting a Study Week for these exams is very unfair!

Disgraceful, no consideration or thoughts of Final years sitting exams. The rest of our future rests on these exams and that's what your messing with. They should be spread out evenly, 7 exams and 4 in 2 days. Do I need to say anymore?!

Exams and essays are hard enough they shouldn't be clustered together.

I'm very dissatified with the layout of my final year modules and my personal exam timetable for both 1st and 2nd semesters. Essay titles are given too close to submission dates and my exams have been finished over the space of three or four days altogether, it's ridiculous!

The layout of this semester is completely unjust for both students and lecturers. Having deadlines for assignments in week 12 as well as having end of semester exams during this week is putting extreme pressure on final year students. Cut backs in the exams department should not mean students should be made suffer. Students want to get the best degree that they can but how can they do their best with so little time!

I can imagine that the rebuttal to this will be "You were warned; you had time to prepare. This wasn't sprung on you!" but that makes very little difference. There is no ‘sigh of relief’ period mid-semester. It is constantly go-go-go and time is set aside to get things out of the way because, frankly, if I had started one of these essays or study for one of these exams 3 weeks or a month ago, I would have been sacrificing time which was to be spent on an essay which was due, you guessed it, 3 weeks ago. There is always something. Actually, no, in this case, there is simply everything and no time to do it. The college was given deadlines for Christmas results also. Who cracked under that pressure?

Very unhappy about the clustering of final year exams also. Exam period in NUIG is from April 24th to May 14th, but most students are finished by the 7th of May. Very little consideration for those sitting their finals.

the layout of the exams are a mess. I have had most of exams brought forward before even study week begins.

It's only a few weeks from the publication of the essay titles to the deadline (of my 7 essays) - how are we supposed to put effort in each of them?

thought first semester layout was a joke, had two exams for my two subjects on the same day. like how was i supposed ot do anyways good when i had to know two completely different modules for two completely different subjects on the same day!!

Ridiculous having two separate English modules having the same deadlines for assignments. I understand the volume of assignments as we have no exams in second year English, but at least a day or two in between them would have relieved a lot of stress (this is in relation to the deadlines of Specialist Studies and Renaissance Literature for 2BA English).

I am more concerned with the deadlines happening after study week. Every semester we are told by the departments that assignments and essay deadlines have to be before the end of term and nothing can go past study week. However, with a lot of the departments (mainly philosophy for myself), they have deadlines for essays on the week that exams start which affects critical study time for exams. Also, having a deadline almost everyday of the final week of a semester is very frustrating and adds a lot of unnecessary stress to what we are already going threw. Why not give assignments/essays earlier and have a wider period of when these need to be submitted by instead of having dates conflict and everything due in around the same time? With relation to the spacing of exams between each other. From the day of my first exam I have a week and a half to my second, two days to my third, and another week and half to my last. Last year, I had two exams on the same day for both semesters. There seems to be no consistency with the layout. Would it not be better to have exams with only a day or two between each one instead? Rather then having two exams on one day or having an exam one day and having to wait over a week for another.

It's very stressful to have so many exams/essays in week 12 when we also have to attend lectures and then to have study week the following week when most of the work is done/handed in. Very unhappy about the layout if I'm being perfectly honest. It's not fair on final years, it's our degree after all and we already have enough pressure/stress without this. It's unacceptable !!
