NT must allow filming of "Lawrence: After Arabia" at Clouds Hill

The authenticity of this film is so important and I hope there will be a change of mind from those currently opposing filming within the grounds. Many many people in Dorset have adopted the extraordinary life and times of Lawrence to their hearts, not to mention the great man himself...the good and the bad of course. His legacy deserves to live on and not be forgotten. Please reconsider permitting access.

We need Truth

Don't deny the British public the right to authenticity. He was a national hero.

This is is a sincere and hard one project and it seems odd the National Trust has rejected the use of a property owned by us all. All publicity is good publicity and that is in itself a very good reason to reconsider the decision to exclude Mark and his storytellers.

The use of national properties for the art of film are crucial. National Trust should allow the filming to go ahead out of respect for T. E.Lawrence.

Filming should be allowed and it may give much needed publicity and visitors to an important and unique house. It was said at a recent conference on T.E Lawrence that the house was in a worryingly poor state of repair.

It is important that the National Trust allow the film company to film at Clouds Hill for their forthcoming film, 'Lawrence after Arabia' to ensure authenticity. It would be a great shame if the National Trust do not provide access.

I’m chairman of “The Lawrence of Arabia Society of Australia” and world needs to see Lawrence as he really was. I am sure that you’ve seen “A Dangerous Man - Lawrence after Arabia” starring Ralph Fiennes. It was authentic but had no use for Clouds Hill. A nation so proud of it’s military achievements should show it’s heroes as authentic as can be achieved. It would be blasphemy to use a studio location.

Please allow the filming to go forward

I assume this is to be a serious and factual biographical account of TE after Arabia. As such I feel the NT should have no objection to CH being used. It was an integral part of his life post-war.

What is the harm in allowing filming in the garden. Also, there are far worse conspiracies that have no problem being filmed

For me this action by the NT smacks of censorship, and the fact is that censorship always defeats its own purpose, for it creates, in the end, the kind of society that is incapable of exercising real discretion. Please reconsider this decision and allow permission for the filming to go forward.

Come on NT, do the right thing and honour TEL.

Since I'm a student filmmaker myself as well as a Lawrence fan, I support the use of national properties for the arts, and want to see more films made about his life

It’s not right, we should embrace potential historic stories and show off buildings. This should not have been stopped please reconsider

Bizarre stance for NT to take on a topic that is most interesting, begs the question why?

As a NT member I don’t see why this is a problem. The NT should reconsider this silly descision and feel honoured that someone does want to film at Clouds Hill!

I am saddened to hear that permission has been withdrawn. It would have been a good opportunity for both parties and to reawaken the publics interest in T.E.Lawrence. Films are educational as well as entertaining - without the original film, I possibly would not have hard of Lawrence of Arabia - it wasn't a topic taught at school. Even if you do not believe in the subject - you need to allow the nation to have that choice!
