All tax professionals with a license or no license should be required to attend at least 30 or more hours of continuing education per year. No exceptions. We all need education to keep up with the ever changing laws. IRS has to go before Congress and request that each person preparing taxes has a license with continuing education each year.
Test are not necessary. Judge the person by the quality of work being done and honestly of work.
If a professional doesn't know a law he/she researches the law. Does a non-licensed person who is in it for the money only and not the best interest of his/her client doing the same thing. Signed by an Enrolled Agent.

I take pride in my ability to help my clients understand and comply with federal tax law + IRS practice & procedure. I have been in practice for almost 30 years and never has this been such a difficult task. The additional burden (and expense) these slowdowns impose on the taxpayers who engage a tax professional is immense.

The IRS customer service is basically non-existent for taxpayers and tax preparers. I support the NSA's Tax Practitioners Bill of Rights.

The lack of appropriate funding for the IRS, coupled with late enactment and retroactive enactment of tax laws is punitive to our citizens and to our tax practitioners. Failure to pass tax law on a timely basis is preventing our small business clients from planning and from expanding. When we don't know what the future holds, we can't plan for it.

Tax preparors should not have to act as unpaid employees of the IRS. our contract is with the customer/taxpayer, not the IRS.

This is long overdue! It is so frustrating to both myself as the practioner and even more to my clients since they have no understanding of any process. This is why they hire us that do and when they are paying good money for results and we are unable to deliver those results because IRS isn't answering us either by mail or phone, it just frustrates them even more!
I'm glad you are doing this I only hope it works
