National Portrait Gallery of Canada: HALIFAX

Please support Halifax's bid to host the Canadian National Portrait Gallery by signing this petition. The petition will be forwarded/delivered to all municipal politicians in Halifax, the corresponding provincial and federal representatives too. This is an important and worthy venue of the arts in Canada and internationally. Atlantic Canada has a vibrant cultural sector that is unmatched anywhere in the world. There are so many aspects to portraiture but the most important one is that it tells a story of a person but in this case, the opportunity to tell the national story of a people. That story should be told from the oldest region of the country: Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is a great opportunity. Let's go for it! Here is a link to a December 19, 2007 news story: http://www.hfxnews.ca/index.cfmsid=90817&sc=89 And the Government of Canada press release that outlines the details of their Request for Proposal: http://www.pch.gc.ca/newsroom/index_e.cfmfuseaction=displayDocument&DocIDCd=CJV070928 I invite you to sign this petition today!
